Privacy Policy

• We collect the minimum we need to run a shared meal planner: your email, your household's meal and grocery data, basic usage logs, and records of AI usage against your budget.
• We use it to operate the Service, sign you in, send you the emails the Service requires, and keep the AI features within budget.
• We do not sell your data, we do not show advertising, and we do not use third-party advertising or tracking pixels.
• We share data only with the service providers that run the Service for us, and only as needed to operate it.
• You can access or delete your data by using the Service or contacting us.

Service in Unity is responsible for the personal information handled through the Service. You can reach us at Meals@ServiceinUnity.org.

Information you provide:

• Your email address, used to sign in and to send Service emails.
• Household data you create or add, including meals, recipes, ingredients, sides, leftover relationships, grocery items, notes, plan entries, and household settings such as your AI budget and plan start date.

Information created as you use the Service:

• AI usage records, including which AI feature you used, token counts, and estimated cost, so we can enforce your household's AI budget.
• Internal analytics events, such as meals planned or plan periods started, used to understand how the Service is used and to operate it. These are first-party only.
• Technical and log data generated by our hosting and infrastructure providers, such as request logs and error logs, used for security and troubleshooting.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information. Please do not enter sensitive health or medical details into free-text fields.

We use the information above to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Service.
• Sign you in using magic links and send the emails the Service requires (sign-in, account, household, and similar).
• Generate AI meal suggestions and enforce your AI budget.
• Keep the Service secure, diagnose problems, and prevent abuse.
• Understand usage in aggregate so we can improve the Service.
• Comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.

When you use an AI suggestion feature, the request and relevant context (such as a meal name or constraints you provide) are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate a response. We send only what is needed to produce the suggestion. We log the model used and token and cost estimates to enforce your budget. Based on our provider's terms for this kind of use, your inputs and outputs are not used to train their models. We do not use AI requests to build advertising or marketing profiles.

Sign-in and Service emails are sent through Microsoft Graph from a Service in Unity mailbox. We do not store passwords. We use email only for the operation of the Service unless you separately opt in to other communications.

We use the following providers to run the Service. They process data on our behalf, under their own security and privacy commitments, only as needed to provide their service to us:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and storage.
• Vercel — application hosting and delivery.
• Anthropic — AI meal suggestions.
• Microsoft — email delivery through Microsoft Graph.

We may add or change providers as the Service evolves and will keep this list current. We do not permit these providers to use your data for their own marketing.

In Unity Meals is a shared tool. Everyone in your household can see and edit the household's shared data, including the meal plan, library, grocery list, AI budget, and settings. A join code or share link lets others join your household and access that data. Share it carefully. This sharing is a function of how the Service works, not a disclosure to outside parties.

• We do not sell or rent your personal information.
• We do not show advertising in the Service.
• We do not embed third-party advertising or tracking pixels.
• We do not share your data with data brokers.

We keep your information for as long as your account and household are active, and as needed to operate the Service. When you delete your account or household, we delete or de-identify the associated personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records to comply with law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Backups and logs are cleared on normal rotation cycles.

You can:

• Access and update much of your data directly within the Service.
• Delete your account or household from within the Service or by contacting us at Meals@ServiceinUnity.org.
• Request a copy of your personal information or ask us to delete it.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California privacy laws or other state privacy laws, including rights to access, correct, delete, or limit certain uses of your information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise any right, contact us at Meals@ServiceinUnity.org. We will respond as required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity first.

The Service is intended for adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it. Minors between 13 and 18 may use the Service only under a supervising parent or guardian's account.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls through our providers, and passwordless sign-in. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for the security of the email account you use to sign in.

Our providers may process and store data in the United States and in other countries where they operate. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be processed in those locations.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide notice through the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
